BIRD DOG TRAINING Each dog is different and each training program is different for each dog. That is the way at Lindley's Kennel.
PUPPY TRAINING Maurice takes a limited number of pups, starting around 6 months depending on their level of development. Pups are introduced to birds and the sound of the gun to develop and maintain a high level of game enthusiasm without any stress from gunfire. It is an absolute requirement that your pup be first evaluated in a one-on-one session before Mo will even consider taking a new student. COMPETITIVE EVENT TRAINING A number of top bird dogs in the country have spent time with Maurice in training or refresher courses. What ever your competition requires; steady to wing and shot, backing / honoring, retrieving to hand, or silent handling, Mo has the experience to tailor your dog's training to your expectations. HUNTING DOGS Plantations here in the South that charge $1000 a day and more can't be all wrong, which is why they send their guide dogs to Maurice to train. Many of Mo's clients are avid upland game hunters that take trips to some of the most popular bird hunting destinations for pheasant, grouse, chucker and prairie chicken. Maurice has had the dog training and hunting experience to address all of these specialized training scenarios. IT'S ABOUT COMMUNICATION
DOGS WITH PROBLEMS There are no problem dogs, but there are dogs with problems. Gun shy, blinking, fear reactions, lying or sitting down on point, flagging, avoiding or failing to back, are all problems that have come about from something that has happened where the dog associated a negative result from a situation. The trick is to identify the triggers and reasons for the dog's reactions and to make a new good association to replace the old one. Maurice works with both dogs and their owners to work through these problems. Maurice says, "Many great bird dogs are left behind because someone just did not recognize how they were creating the problem and not doing anything about it."
